What does it mean to be lost in the landscapes of our
private, bygone ghosts? For Camille Carlyle, 31, it means the inability to be
present in a developing, romantic relationship with Jake Kellen. Camille is a
contemporary Chicagoan still haunted by the consequences of her parents'
tumultuous divorce and by the tragic loss of her childhood sweetheart during
adolescence. The History of Now is a coming-of-age story that follows the
internal trials Camille faces as she attempts to mend her nightmarish
relationship with her past and learn to love Jake.
